Default Civics interference or non-interference engines?

WHen I say that I"m talking about valve clearances, obviously more than one person's bent their valves on their honda so I'd make the pretty obvious assumption that they're interference engines...but when I look at the aftermarket pistons they have valve reliefs in them ... which is what you'd see on a non-interference engine (so the valve could be open while the piston is up w/o causing damage) - usually u see these on larger engines...but I was j/w because of the valve reliefs if those engines were non-interference?

EDIT:
PS: If you don't know what an interference vs a non-interference engine is plz don't respond :-\

They are there in order to allow the piston to get closer to the head which will raise the CR. It could also be there for a slight margin of safety.
