Default Civic Overheats Occasionally

Ok so i was idling the other night and noticed the temp gauge slowly rise, i shut it off and checked the coolant, full.
heaters cold when it does that, everythings fine when driving heaters get hot again.
replaced thermostat, did pressure test was good.
top hose is hot bottom stays cold, no pressure in hoses builds up. feel dumb but i need another persons opinion on it so please!

when you replaced the thermo did you bleed the coolant propley? is the rad fan working? just for a try, take the car for a spin with the heating right up(in car) on full blast for a short while or so then let the car totally cool down and check coolent again

Try putting a small piece of wire in the holes where the fan switch connects. If the fan comes on then it is your fan switch if it doesn't then its your relay between the 2. The same thing happened to me and I changed everything thinking it was not that. I Spent hella money on new fan, radiator and relay. Trust its the fan switch. Its like $34 at honda.
