Civic not accelerating while driving
Hi guys hope you can help me, last night, i was driving my civic(1998 5 speed manual) and suddenly the gauges on the dash dropped to zero, motor still running and no power when stepping on the pedal. I coasted to the side of the road. No warning lights came on the dash. I shut the car off, restarted and everything worked again. It happened a second coming back from work tonight. The car has 216000kms . Would this be a symptom of a timing belt in need of replacement?

no, that wouldn't be a typical timing belt related symptom.
i agree it's likely to be an electrical issue. start simple, ground straps, check battery like the other guys said... before getting in to the more tricky stuff.

it can't be the grounds,or the battery cables the car was still runnning. like I said the tach and speedometer dropped to zero and the pedal was dead. How easy is it to change the speed sensor and the ignition switch.
