Choosing a thermostat ?
I was wondering when choosing a thermostat, is picking something that opens up earlier always better ? Reason being if so, I'll be going with the Mishimoto thermostat, it's the cheapest by $20-$25 vs. Mugen/Spoon thermostats.
Example:
Stock - 88°C.
Mugen - 68°C and is fully opened at 81°C
Spoon - 65°C and is fully opened at 70°C
Mishimoto - 60°C don't know when it fully opens.
If anybody could chime in and let me know, please do!
Thanks in advance.

If its NA get a stock temp (195F I think). The only reason to get a lower temp thermostat is if its boosted or totally busted and it's the only thing that keeps it from overheating. If lower is always better why have a thermostat at all? You want the jacket and engine as hot as possible so as not to lose heat and energy through the cylinder walls.

If it were me I'd go with the stock temp and only get a lower one if there's a problem of overheating. Just put it through its paces and if the temp approaches the high end of the range then drive it nicely until you can get a lower temp thermostat. I know it sounds strange but you want it as hot as possible without overheating.

Like I said before, if colder is better why have a thermostat at all? A thermostat is there to keep your engine hot, not to keep it cold.
I'm not saying overheat the ****er, if I ever even saw my engine at the hot side of the gauge I'd back off and if I saw it there consistently THEN I'd get a cooler thermostat. An overheated engine dies a quick death, but a cold engine a slow death, you gotta get it right and you may might have to suck it up and buy a second thermostat if you don't get it right the first time.
