Car wants to stall when coming to a stop or after revving
Hi, I found a thread just like this, but I could not reply, it says "invalid post", twas dated 2003.
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=661468
Anyway, just like his problem, when I rev the engine, and let go, the engine would like to stall but its just like catching its breath to normal rpm. I cleaned the IACV, but did not fixed it. could it really be a vaccum leak?
another big problem, if this will not be fixed, I think my A/C motor will break down also, because, when the engine would want to stall, the A/C would shut off automatically(and this is not good). Can anyone help me out?
by the way, my engine is d16z6

try doing a tune up and do check for a vacuum leak. its a good place to start. not sure about the ac though i would say get the first problem fixed the take a look at that.

In in the same spot. Cleaned TB, Intake, New plugs wires, Dizzy is fine, and no apparent vacuum leak. Everyone I know points at the IACV. I've got a B16A2.

Where can you find the vacuum locations?

Re: (syler)
When I had these symptoms w/ my D16z6, and all the T-body/coolant stuff was squared away, it came down to valves. Check the valve lash if they are all way out of spec range it can cause this sort of thing. Mine would almost stall out when rolling up to a stop sign, valves were all set WAY too tight. I remember one was like .013" when it should be like .020" or something. Good luck.

Re: (syler)
By valves I mean the intake and exhaust valves--under the valve cover. If you search around the net or grab a Chiltons/Haynes manual, there is a procedure to re-set the lash on each intake and exhaust valve using feeler gauges. Look on one of the stickers underneath the hood and you will find the stock ranges for your particular motor.
You'll need a 12mm wrench, flathead screwdriver and tools to hack the car and rotate the crank by hand. Make sure to re-check each valve after you adjust it because when you tighten the locknut it will sometimes change your lash even if you hold the screwdriver really steady. They make a handy special tool for this but I was always too lazy/cheap to buy one.
If you are confused, take a look at this to get you started.

Don't take it word for word--this applies to B-series. The idea is the same though. There should be a thread with step by step for z6 somewhere on this forum or another.

thanks man, actually the day before yesterday, i took the car to a mechanic and he had this feeler gauges and opened the valve cover and adjusted the valves or whatever you call them. I keep asking why do you need to do that, and he is not talking, maybe he did not want me to know and do it on my own. damm mechanic, does not even know what he is doing for he cannot pin point the problem with my engine. il try to look for another mechanic if I cannot solve this on my own. but thanks for the link man, il still keep this thread up for updates.
