Default Car shakes when braking.

Yea well the title says it all I guess.. I haven't really looked into to it but recently i noticed when im going over 70-80 mph or more and I step on the brakes to slow down, the whole car starts to shake and rumble which makes it hard to control if your going at a high speed. Could it be the brakes are bad? Or...

Only when you brake? First thought would be warped rotors.

Warped and/ or pitted rotors.

Yeah only when I brake, but when I release it everything is normal. Steering starts to go all over the place as well

That can all be attributed to rotors, but it doesn't mean that should it be the only thing to look at.

Like everyone else has been saying, sounds like warped brake rotors.

I'm going to make it obvious and tell you that everyone else is 99% right.

I always use a torque wrench to tighten my lugs to spec and my brakes are always smooth as silk. I think overtightening can be one factor leading to warped rotors/drums.

Or the much simpler explanation that is over heating rotors and hitting potholes.

I drive 180 miles/day up and down a mountain pass + potholes + hard braking. Still smooth. Use a torque wrench.

Replace the rotors and pads. And always torque your wheels. I worked at honda for a year and a half and we always seen cars coming in do to people/shops over tighting the wheels.
