A LOUD THUMP INSIDE THE FREAKING ENGINE! i'm like ****! and my brother (merciful) is like ****!!

well you need to asses the situation.

see if the engine spins freely. judging by how you described the noise, you either welded a rod to the crank, or a rod let go. either way if it was one of those 2 you will need at least a shortblock. if you cant spin the engine over by hand, pull the pan down and see if anyh of the rods are blue.

there are 2 choices if the engine is terminal.

1 - rebuild.
2 - easier, replace it.

does it turn over at all? if so do a compression test. if you have compression drain the oil and check it out even the new oil you have in it will show signs. if you lost a bearing or locked the motor by running no oil( probably most likely) then i would recommend a new engine. d16y8 right.

Do a search through your local junkyard. See if they cant track one down for you for cheap. As a learning expericence get a few freinds, rent a cherry picker and put it in yourself. If that doesnt work call around to a few shops see what they would charge. A used motor for that car shouldnt be to high. I know a used D15b7 was like 300 with low miles so shoudnt be hard to find a D16. Calm down, it will all work out man.

That sucks. Prolly welded the piston to the cylinder walls and when you went to start it the rod prolly let go. Buy a used motor and swap it in. You could buy a cheap D15 and rebuild the Y8 and swap them when it's all rebuilt.

d16y8's are hella cheap...you don't have anything to worry about...and it only takes a day to swap that engine...your friends could help you and if you need more help....thats what ht is for

oh yea...did you find out where the oil went?...or where it leaked out from?...should be signs from the new oil you put in

a decent mechanic should be able to swap in a used motor for ~$1000 w/ some sort of warranty. btw, ford or honda, your motor is going to go to **** if you don't check the oil.

Theres a dip stick for a reason.

Use it, cause if you don't stuff like this happens. Believe me I know, the same happend to me.

Besides checking your oil, you should be checking your radiator and fluids once in a while. I know it's too late now but keep it in mind for the future.

Good luck with your rebuild or swap.

that's why they have chilton's manuals, so you can work on them. it is a hell of a lot cheaper to do the **** yourself. i know. i had to replace the head on my car with a 97 ex head. the books are there for a reason!!

Stop shouting!!! Yeah chiltons is alright for your weekend DIY, but a Helms will give you a better information base with tones of pictures. If you do rebuild then get a Helms as it will make things way easier .

Oh and BTW it ok to ****** swear on this ****, and if any stupid ***** give you **** about it tell em to shove it up their *** and go **** themselves. LMAO. Who made em swear words anyway. Some guy was just like "**** is no longer a socially acceptable word for ones vocabulary."

Anyway, yeah swap it out.
