Blown Head Gasket??
I was told by Honda Dealership that I have a blown head gasket, but it has been 3 months still running with still no symptoms of a blown head gasket. It is running through coolant at least once a week, but no leaks. I have replaced thermostat, radiator cap, and radiator.

You can tell if it's blown if your oil is like milky brown, overheating of engine, and if there is white residue on your underside of oil cap...at least that is what I heard.

i would go with what they say. and if its eating coolant, its a typical sign. and will only get worse.

Re: Blown Head Gasket?? (brick top)
Since you don't have any kind of major symptoms typical to that of a blown head gasket, I concur with others by stating a leakdown/compression test will yield the best results for the most truth. If you look in the sticky's there is a lot of great info on how to even do this yourself.

if you're not leaking, the only place your coolant can go is your cylinders/ oil pan. Only 2 places to get there through; your IM gasket and your head gasket. 1 or the other is probably busted if you have coolant doing a magical disappearing act.

Re: Blown Head Gasket?? (jtchinoy)
Well, if you have the time and funds to fix it, you should do it since your dealer said it was blown. It's prolly not so bad now but it will get worse so it's better to get it done now before it causes any major damage to your enigine.

Thanks, and just to be sure that nothing else is wrong I'm probably just going to buy a new head sometime in the near future, so if any one knows of a good deal on a D16 head please let me know. Thanks again!!!

check for bubbles in your oil. pull the dipstick and see if there are bubbles.
if so you most likely have coolant leak in your oil = head gasket blown. not the end of the world because now you can tell people you have a blown civic. haha
