b16a2 transmission problem
Hey guys, I tried doing a search, and I couldn't find what I was looking for.
My initial problem was that whenever I were to make a sharp right turn(in neutral), i wouldn't be able to shift into 2nd/4th gear. But once i pop it into 1st/3rd/5th and then shift it back into 2nd/4th, it would pop up normally. I also have brand new exedy stage 1 clutch and flywheel/topped up fluids(using Amsoil Synthetic Manual Synchromesh Transmission Fluid (MTF) SAE 5W-30 fluid).
Now I am not able to get into 2nd/4th/reverse at all(even if the car is off or on), but i am able to go into 1st/3rd/5th. I had the car jacked up on a hoist and the shift linkages pulled off and inspected... there is no signs of bent shift linkages. Even tried to shift the gears from where the bitch pin goes and it won't go into 2nd/4th/reverse either. One thing i tried though was shutting the car off and try to shift into reverse with the clutch down and start the car. If i let go of the clutch and if i'm lucky, it goes into the gear, if not, it just grinds(just like when you don't shift all the way in). It feels as its hitting something inside the tranny and it doesn't engage in fully. Any help or feedback would be appreciated. Thanks guys

Re: b16a2 transmission problem (dividedas1)
oh man, i hope its not my syncros.... the clutch was put in by the person who installed my motor. I haven't gottne the chance to take my tranny apart, but just wondering if anyone has had this problem before, or knows how much of a fix this... or if its even worth fixing and buy a different tranny already.

Re: b16a2 transmission problem (TonyO)
I'm going to say it is probably the shifting fork also. My buddy had an LS tranny that wouldn't go into 2nd and it was his shifting fork. If it is and you know anybody around that can work on a tranny it shouldn't be too expensive to fix.

Re: b16a2 transmission problem (iamthefollower)
just take the tranny off. inspect the shifter fork. sorry i really dont know much about the insides of transmissions. i'd imagine if the linkage, the shifter fork, and the throw out bearing is fine then it would have to be transmission related.
