Icon6 B16A2 loss of oil

Hi. I didn't see any EL specific sub-forum so I thought the 92-00 Civic forum would be the best place to post this, I mean the EL is really just a Civic and the drivetrain that is in mine is used in a lot of cars relevant to this sub-forum. I really wanted an EM1 but every local one near me was trashed and this car came up. I knew the seller personally and got a very good price on the car.

I have a 99 Acura EL with a B16A2 swap. Unconfirmed mileage on the swap the car has 212,xxx kilometers, however, it appears to be recently rebuilt the internals looks next near to new. Runs and drives excellent.

I just recently bought the car (love it so far) it has been a little over a month now and I notice it appears to be losing oil. It does not appear to leak, or at least I can't see it where I park the car so I believe an external leak like an oil pan gasket etc is not the problem. The coolant is good and there is no oil in there.

I had someone in the car while I was behind it and not a hint of blue smoke or any smoke for that matter, no scent of any fluids burning either.

I understand it is very common for the B series engines to use oil but this seems a little excessive, I top it off and in about a week maybe a little longer I am sitting at half full or just over. That is while just driving the car to school/work not driving hard or anything.

The 2 things I thought may be the culprit are:

1. the spark plug tube where the wire/boot attach to the plug has a small amount of oil in it in Cylinder 1 I cleaned it off with a rag and it does appear to come back. Cylinder 2, 3 and 4 are all dry and stay dry. Valve cover gasket maybe?

2. PCV valve?

Thank you for taking the time to read this, I appreciate your opinion and input.

So you are losing about 1.5 quarts a week? Or do you mean halfway on the dipstick mark, which will be about 1/2 quart?

How's your driving technique?

Have you done a compression check?

Sorry, I should of clarified that. Halfway on the dipstick mark. I am driving it very conservatively right now as I don't want to drive the car hard while it has some sort of problem, especially to do with oil loss. I have not done a compression check, I plan to when at a friends shop.

After I made this thread I did notice there was a small wet spot that appeared to be oil, this is the first day its been dry in a little while but I had not seen any oil residue or rainbows where I parked before while it was wet. Soon I will get the car in the air and check the condition of the oil pan and gasket.
