B SERIES COMPATABILITY??
I have a GSR right now (1994) swap in my car, I want to buy JDM B16A2 b/c less miles, and I can get a good deal....Anyway, if I just purchase long block will I need anything else? Or will the ecu, linkage, axels wiring etc...."bolt on"...Thanks for the help, any advice is welcome

Re: B SERIES COMPATABILITY?? (Bee18Hatch)
you'll need a different ECU.the P72 isn't ideal.a P30 would be your best bet.others may suggest a chipped ECU,but they usually result in running too rich and possible problems due to the rev-limiter being raised.
everything else will work.
also,be careful of the JDM imported engines.you have no way to tell how many miles are actually on the engine.i find it hard to believe that all these engines that are up to 18 years old all only have 30-40k miles on them
i've gotten plenty of JDM engines that look like they have about 300k miles on them.
have you considered using that money to rebuild your GSR?the GSR has a big torque advantage over the B16.
one more thing-does the new engine actually have "B16A2" on the block,or just "B16A"?if it is an A2 it's a US engine.

Its B16A on the block....168 hp I believe....Considering a rebuild? Never thought of it, what do you est the cost would be? For top and bottom end.? Or if you could point me to a good post/site.

Why would you not read carefully before posting? Although I do agree, it doesn't seem like a good idea unless you've got like 300,000 miles on the GSR

Re: B SERIES COMPATABILITY?? (Bee18Hatch)
yeah i would say just build/rebuild the gsr. i can see no benifit to buying a b16 just because it has lower miles unless the gsr is seriously screwed up in some way. that motor is worth the cost of a rebuild.
