Auto 00 D16Y8 into manual 99 Civic Cx HELP?!
I just got a hold of a D16Y8 thats coming out of a AUTO 2000 Civic EX, I was wondering what would I have to change and/or buy to get that into my MANUAL 1999 Civic CX with a D16Y7. I've been trying to read up on it and all I'm understanding is that the auto Y8 and manual Y8 intake manifolds change (Please explain what I have to do to the auto y8 or why I must get a manual y8).What would I need to get from the ex to transfer the motor into my cx? I need this car to pass inspection in the state of north carolina so i would like everything to be top notch. Also ill be re-using my tranny from the d16y7 anything i should change? What other things should i transfer to the Y8 From the Y7?
Thanks in advance

you will have to do a 3 to 2 wire iacv conversion. id recommend buying a y8 manual intake manifold with the throttle body and the iacv to make this simple. unless ur good with a tap and die and drill u can just buy y8 iacv...

You'll need to get a hold of a 2-wire IACV for a manual Y8 or drill yours and mount one:
Alternatively, you can try to buy a Y8 manual intake manifold and sell your Y8 automatic intake manifold to people who want to do a mini-me intake mani swap on their Y7's.

It was really easy to do
Only needed a few tools
12mm wrench
1 tap size M8x1.25 this was on loan from CrazyMX6 thanks homo lol
1 drill bit to drill a hole sorry i dont know the size of the bit, cause the marking were wore off. Anyone know the correct size so i can post it here.
1 drill bit to drill out the holes for vacuum for the iacv
1 shop vac. or house sweeper
and a drill cordless or electric
Well here is what we have the all famous auto y8 mani, as we all know the auto mani uses a iacv that on the tb eww gross lol.
So lets change this **** over to run a proper iacv.
First what i did was go ahead and use the one hole already there and bolt the iacv on to the mani. Make sure you line it up real good or really close to good.
Sorry I missed a pic here. but with the iacv still bolted to the mani go ahead drill a hole that you will tap. I left the iacv on so i can yuse the hole as a centering guide that way it was striaght and didnt get cockeyed while i was drilling. Also I didnt drill all the way threw the manifoldI prob went im guessing 9/16 deep. Enjoy my pic lol
Next get the tap and a wrench and center the tap right in the middle of your hole. With it sitting straight up and down use one finger for downward pressure, and your other hand for turning the wrench. Once it starts to make threads you dont need any pressure let the tool do the work. Turn it till it stops, back it out some and work it back and forth.
Now with the hole tapped go ahead and test it out make sure u didnt mess up lol
Now with the iacv removed you can see to oily rings that were left by the gasket. Locate the center of each ring and starting in the center with the drill bit you used to drill your tapping hole and drill all the way threw the intake manifold
First set of holes drilled
Also when i drill these holes I put a vac hose in the mani to catch most of the shavings
Then i used a bigger bit to make the holes bigger

Like others have said try and find a 96-98 Y8 manual manifold (the 99-00 is usable but you'll have to plug up the holes for the FIA, see photo below). Also pick up a 99-00 P2P ECU for plug and play. Wire up the 3-2 wire IACV conversion. You have two options for the exhaust, keep your Y7 turd manifold and exhaust, or use the Y8 and have a cat welded in. If you do option B you'll have to extend your secondary 02 by either unwrapping the tape and split loom to make it reach or use an O2 extension. You'll also have to wire up VTEC and knock sensor. Your mounts will transfer over to the new engine. To be honest I'd try to find a 92-00 EX/92-95 Si transmission and replace the clutch while you're at it.

The only thing I can think of is if you are using an air intake you'll have to drill a hole into the intake arm and using a rubber grommet insert the intake air temp sensor into it.
