Hello All,

I've done a lot of searching, and still cannot find a definite answer. Are there any bulbs that are a direct fit for the 96-98 climate control?

I know that from searching the #194s are too big, the #74s don't fit and I believe the #24s require using a screw driver or something to make the whole a little bigger (which I really don't want to do.)

Are there any bulbs that are clear in color, that would be a direct fit? Or would going OEM from the dealership be my best bet?

When I got my car, (EJ8), the climate control bulbs were blown, so I just picked some up from auto zone. They didn't have the little condoms on them, like the oem ones did when I removed them. The autozone ones were a direct fit though.

My climate control now looks more so like this : (except my ek4 clock is white)




My climate control is more amber, and I would like to make it white like this one, too match my clock and cluster.




Where would I find white/clear bulbs? Do I need the condoms for them? Would the dealership have ones that are clear?

What were the part number from Autozone you got, and those were for the 96, not the EJ?

You have 2 opinions for white, go to the dealer and order them, a little expensive about 4 bucks a bulb or.

You can get micro bulbs from radio shack they have wires leads, you take out the bulb from the 96 unwrap it and and then wrap in the RS bulb, but they are a little smaller in the base I think they are like 2 bucks for 4 bulbs.

are the stock ones supposed to be white? because if thats the case Ill just get them from the dealer.

i know autoillumination.com has them cheaper, but not sure which the right ones are.

If the stock 96-98 bulbs are supposed to be white, ill get them from honda.

i usually recommend leds so they wont overheat and last a long time inside the climate control.

i basically need the exact same thing!! my cluster bulbs were out when i bought my car, i need to replace them!! im not so picky about the color, if they are white, red, or blue i dont care!!

the only direct fit is OEM.

IIRC, I used #24's when i did mine, and had to wiggle a flat head to get the bult to fit right. Which is no big deal at all.


I bought from Autolumination.com The bulbs were $1 each. if you want, white check Hondapartsunlimited.com for OEM bulbs, they may cheaper... The OEM bulbs were a little brighter then mine are now.

The ones I have in my cluster now, are from autozone, but they're more yellow-ish/Amber, and I'd prefer white. I still have some calling around to do at the local dealerships.


May order them with the part # spike listed

either the button has some type of plastic tint to it
or you need the blue bulb covers to make it a more natural white

go to the junkyard and pick any EG or EK clusters (clusters from other japanese cars can be used also).....the indicator light bulbs at the back of the clusters are exactly the same specs with the climate control bulbs..the OEM bulbs are manufactured by Toshiba

#74 will surely fit..just take out the bulbs from their holders and put it on your CC
