Default 96-00, 92-95 civics fuel filter bleed bolt difference??

Just did a fuel filter on my 93 'sol, and it makes sense. has a separate fitting on the banjo bolt so you can bleed the system after.

Did my 97 civic today, and it's basically the same, except there is no separate bolt for bleeding the system. EVERY tutorial I could find they did not bleed the system.

Can you bleed it just by cracking the banjo bolt itself, or by some other method, or do you really not have to?

I primed the pump a few times and it fired right up without issue... But I'm just curious because I don't get it. Seems to me it should be bled.

Can anybody explain why they made this change between the eg's and the ek's? I'm just curious because I don't understand why they would remove that... Other than it's probably just that much cheaper to produce.

Some cars come with the different fittings. If you have the bleed bolt you can always get adapter fittings and place a fuel pressure guage there. Other wise I wouldn't worry about it bleeding it. Just priming the system is all I have done for a long time. Turn key on listen for fuel pump, turn off and repeat a couple times.

That's a service bolt used to relieve fuel pressure and also a port to check fuel pressure. No need to bleed fuel after servicing the system.

Thanks! That's good to know about the fuel pressure gauge.
