Well, a lot has heppend since I have been gone... my rear drums are very worm. They are rusted and I need to buy new pads anyway. Cost isn't really an issue, I'm just looking into how I would do it and where to get the stuff. If anyone would like to help me out with researching what I will need and such, please write me. The brakes work fine, they are just a pain to maintain and well, I want disc!

import auto salvage sells the complete kit including rear trailing arms too. a direct bolt on affair. cost is about $200 plus s&h. it can't be any easier then that trust me.

Big rotors = greater rotational mass = longer stopping distance. At least when bigger rotors are used with the stock calipers.

Big rotor kits with the stock calipers are rice. The Civic is not a car with a reputation for brake fade so any heat exchange difference between stock and big rotors is negligible. It's strictly a fashion modification.

Default brake conversion

I'm looking to upgrade my brakes f+r from my cx to an integra set up. Frankly, the main reason I'm doing so is because my rear drums are totally shot (one side is metal on metal), not because of the bling factor. Also, I would have to assume that they will have slightly better performance than drums and will wear better. The main reason I'm swapping, as noted before, is because it will end up costing me about the same money to install disks as to replace the drum set up.

Anyone have any insights on the master cylinder, brake booster, prop. valve and wiring. I have been receiving mixed information regarding these. I am driving a 92 cx hb and am interested in knowing how they will work w/ my existing lines.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've read that I can use 90-91 Civic Ex master cylinder and it will work well; I've also heard that 'Teg RS master cylinder/bb/prop.valve work; and I've also been told that I would not need to upgrade these because they ones I currently have are idential. Is there any validity in this?

Look for it at junkyards or at a performance store near you. Its nice to have rear disc. Better braking and more aftermarket parts for them. It even looks nicer.

So what am I looking for? Do the rear brakes of an integra fit my 95eg? Hasn't really been explained other than where to look, what am I looking for.

I had something happen to one of my front brakes that might suck! Well, it does suck! I had my rims put on at Big O and they cross threaded some of the bolts so had to take off my rotar to do this. No biggy right? Well now the rotar is shaking, I took of my tire today and I can phsically move the rotar slightly back and forth. How bad is that? I'm going to take it back in tomorrow and chew them out. Could have killed me!

First off, if you read my link, all the info is there.
Second, if you can't understand the info in my post, you don't have any buisness trying a brake swap.
Third, since you messed with the job that Big O did, they will probably say YOU screwed it up.
Fourth, the wheel holds the rotor tight against the hub. It is normal to be able to wiggle the rotor w/o the wheel in place.
Fifth, it seems like it's time you let this thread die! Your not accepting any help that anybody is giving you.

well guys here is my .02 the drums build up too much heat so if you do circuit race then it is definitely not a good choice especially if you have a swap. I drive a 93 EG9 Ferio and sicne the motor I would recommend moving toward a full upgrade from a teg for example. If you plan on using a H22, lean towards a disc setup from a 94+ GSR and depending on what you are using it for try to get your hands on the MC and BB. I did not get those parts so I tracked down a ITR MC and BB. When it comes to a motor like that make sure you use a decent pad I use hawk HP+ with brembo rotors. 250 is a good deal because here in Toronto finding a conversion is at least 700 so I would take advantage of that price because that is a good deal if it is complete and is a pretty much straight forward install.

Goodluck!

ok can someone answer this... when you do the rear disk brake conversion isnt it only for looks? I was going to get a rear disk brake conversion from a junkyard near me for real cheap and my friend told me its not worth it because its only for looks and the brakes are only working when u engage the e brake ... ?

Let this thread die already. From talking to a few different people, when under hard braking, your rear brakes do a small percentage of braking, like 5-10% I think with drums, and slightly more, like 15-20% with disks because of the line pressure? I dont know, I'm sure some brake guru will answer that if this thread doesnt die.

Or call me crazy, but try the search, theres literally hundreds of threads on brake swaps.

Brakes are the most important to your driving saftey. If you ever do a power motor swap you'll notice why the fast integra's come with discs not drums from factory. Bottom line, it doesnt cost that much to get rear discs, I got mine from junk yard,(its easier to just get the whole rear lower control arm off an integra). I got mine with installation for $175.(NYC).

Also hint, make sure u get the Ebrake cable with it, if not you are looking at an extra 50bucks for a new one.
As for the stopping, there is definately more stopping power. (Especially when you trying to slow down at high speeds).

Okay, the dilema with my brakes from Big-O was that the bearing have gone bad and need replacing. Wasn't their fault, wasn't mine. So since I will be working in there I found the parts I need to do the swap fro about $200 from a salvage yard further south where i live. When I get it done, I let you all know how it goes.
