Default drum 2 disc

How easy is a drum to disc brake conversion and is it worth the dollars?

Very easy if you have all the right tools.

The only benefits are easier maintenance and better friction material selection. Not worth the time and money IMHO.

What are your reasons for wanting to do this conversion? I have a lot of experience with brakes and can help steer you in the right direction.

i went from drums to disk and here's my expense list for the entire suspension swap:

1999 GSR front and rear brakes with rear trailing arm, ebrake cables, upper A arms, forks and knuckles - $500

Stainless steel brake lines with silicone coating - $120

New Honda OEM Brake pads front and rears - $140

Resurface all 4 GSR rotors - $60

Brake fluid - $20 (2 bottles of the good stuph )

I stop on a dime even without the prop valve, MC and Brake booster upgrade

best $840 upgrade i've spent on my hatchie...aside for the full ITR interior

its a good swap(did it to my hatch) but dont forget to buy the integra master cylinder or else they wont compress like they should.

A master cylinder upsize isn't necessary for a simple 9.5" rear disc conversion.

Honda equipped a 13/16" MC on the '92-95 non-ABS Si hatch, which had rear discs standard.

I agree, i did this swap on my 97 ex with si rear discs and I used the stock master cylinder. However, it is 100% necessary to get an integra brake proportioning valve. Without it the rear brakes will not get enough pressure to work properly. Also, I learned the hard way that if one of the bolts won't come out because it has bonded to the rubber bushing, leave IT! The controll arms on both setups are the same and therefore are interchangeable.
