Single cam all the way if your on a budget. Besides one cam is Cheaper than two. I'd only do a b series if it were a 1.8 to get more torque. not to mention its more cost effective if looking for an LSD tranny for handling. Doing the same on a single cam raises your cost to a fresh swap. Price it and see whatchu come up with.

Agree, DOHC is expensive. It's got more potential though and I think it's worth it. If you stay SOHC, you have to boost it to make any decent power and then most people drop compression and just make them slower in the city.
For the best bang for the buck, H series. Beast of a motor and not at all a direct, simple swap, but I wish I'd have just built one instead of building my B series.

I hate these threads.
How does a car "stress itself"? Maybe it worries that it's about to get hacked to pieces.
If you have to ask, then don't touch the car.
And since you weren't specific as to what you needed out of the car be prepared for the same tired answers as the last people that asked this same question.

i actually enjoy the SOHC. its so much easier to work on and you have more room under the hood. however im picking up a shell tonight and am thinking about an H22

yes the b18 may have more tq stock but a d series with alil bit of boost goes a long way and makes as much tq as it does hp. they are strong motors when built correctly and cheaper to build and work on. i get tired of hearing B series is the way to go. a b18 makes just as much horse power with just a tad bit of tq over a z6. its all about your budget. even a b18 has no torque. if u want tq go with a b20,h22,f22,k20 or k24.

i would say dohc. b series if your on a buget if not go h series or k series. its all good cus your car is obd1. that means you can tune your motor to get the most from it..

These threads are pretty anyoying. lol
OP, what's the budget? Plans for the car?
B swaps aren't all that difficult or expensive.
For the money you would spend on the swap, you could likely do a vitara/eagle rods, and likely even turbo charge it. But, you will still need other things, clutch, Ecu, fuel system stuff, tuning, etc. Doing that, will make enough power to walk on MOST b series setups.
B series eninges have more potential when built, but that typicaly comes at quite a high price..
You have to pay to play, and Honda's deffinetly aren't cheap to modify.

Stock for stock the B series will win, period.
That is unless the driver of the car with the series sucks.
