Default 2000 civic si ecu questions??? emanage vs. obd1 crome

Okay i have a 2000 civic si. the original motor was taken out and replaced with a B18c with B16 DOHC Vtech head. i have the same OBD2 ECU and running 7psi. i have talked to quite a few local people and one shop told me the best rout is to go OBD1 chiped conversion and use crome to tune it. Another shop said Greddy Emanage Ultamate and go get it tuned by a certified greddy tuner. whats the best rout if anyone has any experience? i have eagle rods and pistons so i want to bump my boost up to 20psi and tune it properly for optimal performance, but still be running safe and able to pass inspection.

I dont know about inspection in your state but Turboed cars usually dont pass here. Expecially if there OBD1. I say go pass inspection first while the stock computer is there. Afterwards get Hondata S300 with boost option. Thats my best opinion on the situation. TUNE AND DYNO PLEASE! Sounds like an awesome set up. With the correct tuning you will be able to run 20 PSI no problem. My friends stock B16 with hondata is running 15 PSI and makimng over 320 WHP.

P.S Its VTEC not vtech (which is a phone)

I imagine ECP or Imports plus told you to go with crome and OBD1 and I can guess anyone of the other 2 shops that told you greddy.

Here is the skinny, if you want a car to run and make power and you can't do it yourself, use ECP or imports plus. If you wanna be blinging and all mad tight #1 stunna, go somewhere else lol. The emanage is not a good system for a honda because of it's limited capabilities and expensive buy in. If you wanna pay a lot of money, go Hondata or AEM. If you want to go fast cheap, use Crome. I have dealt with the guys in Jville for a long time and know every shop here and drink beer with the guys from ECP and I+. Both of those shops build nasty *** cars that live a long time. The other shops, well one of them has a kick *** mechanic but crappy management and the other is just a joke.

That being said, stick with OBD1, every year when it's incpection time, drop in stock injectors and a P2T ecu, drive for 50 miles without boost and then go get it inspected and you will pass. If you no longer have a P2T, I have one you can borrow whenever you need it inspected since you are local.

I just did a turbo GSR. We used a P28 and chrome. Runs like a dream. Ditch E-manage and run Chrome (provided you know someone who can tune).

Both of the good shops here in town have killer crome tuners. Had my coupe trapping 112 mph on 10lbs and full weight +17 inch wheels, full interior, and a stereo system.

I had no idea what the car would have ran when we really got it turned up and dialed in but both of the Larry and Kevin are aweswome crome tuners with very reasonable pricing.

yeah i have erics old car. iv seen you on performance freaks. chuck and luis have almost convinced me to let kevin tune it with obd1. when i get a little bit more cash im going to do it. kevin originaly told me $550 with the obd1 conversion, install, and tune. i think that sounds pretty reasnable. what size injectors should i buy? i have 310s in there now. and my check engine light is still on from blowing the primary o2 sensor. i tried replacing it but it blew it again so i said screw it. i cant waist 120 bucks every week

For that much boost i think you'll need at least 550 injectors. That is a lot of fuel you'll need. Also if your thinking about e-manage you might want to consider the e-manage ultimate. It's the same thing more or less but with more tuning capabilities so you'll be able to extract more power.

Ah so you have Erics old car. Cool deal man.

Kevin is definately one hell of a tuner. I will give you one reason why you should forget Emanage or ultimate either one.

Kevin and Larry. Either one of them will answer a cell phone in the middle of the night when you have a fresh setup dialed in and come tune your car at midnight no questions asked. No appointments, no problems, and both of them are BMF's with crome pro. Emanage is the most overrated software in the Honda world man.

Also, if you are still rockin stock, let Bobby cash at Imports + get ahold of the downpipe on that car and make a real one. You will **** when you feel the difference between the garbage greddy gave you and what Bobby or any other kick *** fab guy can build you. And as far as fuel, 550's will be fine with a greddy kit man. All the fuel you will need.

If you ever have any questions man, just hit me up here or on PF. I have done probably 40% of the local swaps and a LOT of custom turbo installs so I can answer any questions you might have.

Last but not least, VTEC is a honda cam profile, vtech is a phone company, change your sig lol.

either way, you should run obd1 because there aren't as many restrictions for tuning purposes and you can get your car to run way better. i just bought a gsr p72 ecu and sent it out to get chipped and socketed, and will get the car tuned in march or april with chrome data

Christ, this thread sounds like a paid advertisement.

Probably the shop in Charlotte Charles.

But I would stick with anything other than Emanage. Just not worth it for the limited capabilities.

True. I'm only using it because I'm bent on staying OBD2.

I gave up man, I was going back OBD2 and with the amount of compression and cam in this motor I am building, it's just not going to happen so I am going to register my car out of state.
