d16y7 head on d16z6 block
ive read a lot about this but unsure what timing belt to use or headstuds im always reading 2 different stories.im planning to go boost i have all my parts and a z6 block sitting.i rather use that due to y7 oil pump.and im doing y7 head since i want to keep my port and regrind cam.i just need to know what studs timing belt pully all that good stuff.p.s this is going to be vitara block with y7 head.

you get the headstuds for whatever cylinder head you are working with. in your case a y7. but i must ask why are you using a y7 cylinder head over a y8?

For the headstuds, use d16y7 pieces. The threads in the block are most likely identical, I know with a d16y8 and a d16z6 the bolt closest to the distributor is a different length but the threads in the block are the same, it's a difference in the head.

thanks man u helped a lot! just finished my vitara block now needa order up some headstuds ana start breaking it innn.so z6 and y7 timing belts the same?

I haven't timed it yet or even torqued it down because it's not TDC yet. Just wanna know if I can drive it with only one bolt in. And will it stay timed? Don't want the distributor blowing up or popping out
