16" or 17" Rims? Which are better?
im buying motegi racing traklite rims for my 93 del sol. i have swapped the motor with a jdm type r b18c. i want to take it to the track every once in a while so im looking for good performance over good looks. what are the advantages to having 16" rims over 17" rims and vice versa. any input and opinions would be cool.

16s are lighter and have less rotational mass, so you get better acceleration and braking, and I think most people on H-T would agree that asthetically they would be a better choice as well. 17s are kinda big IMO.

yea man, couldn't agree more... your's sounds a lot like mine haha.. 93 with jdm b18c
i had 17's on... dropped down to 15s... IMO 17s do look too big since a sol is such a small car... 16s are the biggest i'd go... especially if you're going to track it..

I 100% agree.
If all you care about is performance go with the 16" traklites.
But since you're not trying to impress the chicks at the local coffee shop, I'd go with 15" traklites.
I got 16" rims on right now (cause they're wider) and to be honest, my 15" SiR (EM1) rims are way lighter. I'd imagine the same goes for the traklites.

Between 16's and 17's, I'm with everyone else for 16's. Anything over that on a civic is a bit too big in my opinion, even with a drop. And as other people have noted 16" rims are generally (but not always) cheaper than their 17" counterparts, and tires for them are cheaper too. Even 15's aren't too small on a civic (I'm goin for the mostly OEM look on my DX and have the 15" Si wheels)
