Default 00 Civic Trunk Light on Dash

Hey guys, I have a 2000 Civic Hatchback, I recently changed my cluster and adjusted my trunk latch the same day.. Now the trunk light is on the dashboard as Open, even when it's closed properly.

I searched the forum and google. I got a little information on what might be going on, some people say the trigger for the dash light is built in the latch on the trunk it self, is that correct?

If I pull the latch off the trunk it self and pull the hook off the body, will I be able to verify if that's where the issue is? if not, what else can I check?

Thanks guys

Where exactly is this sensor located? on the base of the car where the hook is ? or on the trunk it self where the latch is ?

Thanks for your reply, btw I like your sigs lol

The switch is built into the hatch latch. Maybe you damaged the latch. If you unplug the connector from the latch, does the dash trunk light turn off?

take the connector on the latch and slowly and lightly push it to one side or another and check for operation. theres just a metal tab that the latch grounds when they touch. i think youll need to pull the top a little to the drivers side.
Edit- just saw you have a hatch. i bet the latch is difrent than the one i explained. Mine had a removable cover over it on my sedan.

yeah first unplug the sensor or the latch, is the light off? then try 'closing' the latch with a screwdriver and see if you can get the light to turn off by pressing harder, or pushing more on one side etc... if nothing changes it's probably a bad switch/sensor or just needs adjusting
