*PICS* *Need advice* Rear trailing arm broken
In the process of a k-swap
everything was going well . Removed the front subframe and rack. All the suspension removed. Everything was perfect . No issues
moved on to the rear on the passenger side .
removed everything . Had to cut a few things because of rust . No big deal . Got it done .
moved on to driver side rear. same thing removed everything . But once I got to the rear trailing arm bushing . I already had a lot of rust in that one area as you can see in the photos . The bolt that goes into the outside frame . It completely just fell when I put my breaker bar to it . just snapped .
now I want to say that , from the looks of it . The bottom of this just thin sheet metal. It was not the support . I think it’s some type of bolt that hang down from the true frame above and hangs down with a rivet or something .
not sure in anything has some advice or have seen this before . Any help would be appreciated .

Sounds like the car needs a new less rusty rear sub frame.

extra work I'm sure you were not quite expecting .

That body damage is extensive. Some times we here in the South take it for granted that we have much cleaner cars on the underside... free of salt rot and terminal rust cancer. I really hate to see that on your car OP... best of luck.

Thats a tough one, I mean you probably thought you got a deal with the shell but depending on where you live you could take additional steps to ensure no rust.

Currently dealing with the same problem. Trailing arm bolts are breaking out, destroying the frame. It’s 2 layers of sheet metal in there. All in all this area is an absolute pita. Everything is seized, rusted, broken.
gonna have to get creative with the mig. Ideas?
