Well you have a very vague description here; what type of engine/body work. Are we talking a tune up and some touch up paint or Body filler, sanding rust and re-ringing the engine? In any event, a running/driving 97 EX that will pass inspection and has a decent condition interior & exterior for the age but needing a clutch I would say is worth maybe ~$1500. Again this depends on mileage, actual condition, etc but as a ballpark I would estimate $1000 on the low end to $1600-1700 on the high end.

Well honestly it needs a new paint job and the engine only has 95,xxx miles on it. In total it needs a new paint job, new clutch, little engine work because it's been eating up oil. Other than that everything else is good. The guy is selling it for 800.

That's a GREAT price for a corvette, but a terrible price for a d series. Going to need a bit more information than that man. To answer your other question lots of people work on Hondas, if they didn't who would be fixing all these things?!?

$1000 is about the normal price if they're going to do all the labor involved with parts included. As in removing/rebuilding/reinstalling the head+ new gasket. It cost me just over $400 to have my d16 head hot tanked, 3 angle valve job, new valve stem seals, resurfaced, rebuilt and pressure tested all by a very reputable shop is they key thing.

Noob here. The car: silver 2000 Civic EX coupe; 95,500 miles; 2nd owner; manual transmission; minor mods (only intake and muffler); stock steel wheels w/ cheap Kumhos ~75% tread remaining; aftermarket stereo (Kenwood single CD head unit and speakers, no amps or subs); everything runs and works well; a few minor paint chips on hood but otherwise body is in great condition with no rust; 90k mi service done recently. Car has been garaged and well maintained. Located in San Antonio, TX.

What's it worth? Thanks for your help!

Hi Everyone. I have a 98 civic hatchback that i've had for about 4 years, and would like some expert's opinion on what would be a reasonable price to set. here is a list of all (everything I can remenber) the car has

-Just finished F20B swap. Along with the swap ther is a no cut shifter box, innovative billet mounts, powder coated valve cover, all new belts, have paperwork for the motor, DC sports ceramic coated header, no lsd transmission, new clutch and FW, amd wrkin A/C.

-55 Watt HIDs with morimoto proyectors
-Nice clear and loud stereo consisting of JL audio amps (300/4 and 500/1) Pioneer 1000WRMS sub, custom fiberglass sub box on spare tire space, polk audio speakers, 7 inch screen with full mirroring for android phones,
-drag dr16 16" wheels
-all power (mirros, windows, locks) done the right way.
-viper 5906 2 way alarm/remote start
-RSX type s front seats, leather GSR rear (driver seat had the tear in it)
-99-00 dash conversion
-Front and rear sway bars.
-Aluminum rear lower control arms
-Skunk2 megapower catback exhaust
-Cruise control
-Rear Disc brakes
-All the front suspension and rear trailing arm bushings have been replaced with oem ones.

Outside there is cancer that is starting to grow on driver's side rear quarter. Other than the cancer the paint is in very good shape with no dents. I would say 7 out of 10 ( I live in PA so there is no way you can have a daily driver with perfect paint). The car still runs on stock suspension. 155K miles. Around 50k on engine.

thanks in advance

I'm looking to sell my 1992 Honda Civic VX. Mileage is at 244k, re sprayed oem red. Car runs good, no body damage, completely bone stock besides the ek seats and the stereo. I have maintenance records for multiple things. Just wanted to know how much it would be worth? I know that these are some what "rare" to come by.

Thank you!

Default Repair/replace engine or get another car

Hey everyone!

I have been thinking in terms of whether to repair/ replace the engine for my Honda civic1997 DX Coupe Manual with 163,000 miles or to just get another car. The head gasket and the engine blockare bad and I got opinions from two mechanics. One told me to repair or replace the engine, in which everything will cost $1200 and the other mechanic told me to expect to pay 622.00 to fix the head gasket , which indicates that engine might still work and it doesn't , then the cost of the repair will get to $1100.

I also been thinking of getting another reliable car and I'm looking at another Honda (Accord 1998-2002, CRV 1997-2001) , Toyota (Corolla 1996-2002, Celica 2000-2003) and Chevy Prizm (2002).

I even thinking in getting another Honda civic , preferably 1999 or 2000.

The reason for all this is that I'm wondering if is worth the investment in fixing the engine , while the car needs a paint job and a couple of other things. I thinking that it would be better to just get another car.

My current budget is $2,000 , but I expect to get more money at the end of month for a total budget of $3000 to do the work or get another car.

Would it be better to fix my current car or to get another civic coupe 1999-2000??

If not a civic, what you guys think about the mentioned brand and models?? Are the corollas 1996-2002 and celicas 2000-2003 more reliable than the civics 1996-2000?

PS. Forgot to mention , but I installed a new clutch on this car only a month ago. Plus , it has a new radiator (less than 6 months), new connecting pipe, thermostat and thermostat. Water pump and timing belt were changed a couple of years ago.

I've got a 92 Civic Si with a 5 speed. I suspect the input shaft bearing has gone bad, and there's grinding from 1st to 2nd at higher rpm's. What would a rebuilt Si transmission run me?

Just bought a complete D16Z6 (only saw a video of it running, sounded noisy)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWKp...ature=youtu.be

The b000 manual tranny, the owner said it has no grinds and CV axels with no torn boots for 225 Canadian.

Is this a decent deal now a days or is the old D-series a thing of the past and even the SI motor and tranny is not valued as it once was even 5 or 10 years ago?

The Z6 sounds decent. $225 for the complete swap or $225 for just for the transmission and axles? If it was the latter you did ok but nothing special. If you got a complete Z6 swap in good condition for that price you did well.

I'm literally to the point where I can't give D-series parts away, but I live in a place with no real Honda scene.

225 for complete engine including both manifolds, transmission, shift linkage, shifter and both axles as well as all the brackets. Engine has the power steering pump and spark plug wires on it too with dizzy.

The only thing missing is ECU.

I'm just wondering if the scene is getting that same way my way, but I never see SI's in the self service yard, it's always full of 1.5L for the 5th gen.

Default Ek vs ep3?

I'm 33 years old. I have been out of the Honda game for about 10 years now. I'm finally in a place of my life with my step son graduating, that I can buy another one. We built a S2K for him for graduation. Now I wanna get back into it myself. I have always liked Ep for some reason. But I have came across a 1997 ek with a b18c1 block, b16 head, full suspension, and nice set of wheels. For $3,000. The guy tells me the engine is just rebuilt and needs broke in. He sent vids of it running and him driving it down the street. It's about 3 hours away from me. Should I jump on it and hope he's telling me the truth? Or should I just wait and look of an ep3?

The ep that I found is $3,500. 160k needs a knock sensor. Other than that. Stock. Adult owned. I would be doing a k24 swap in it. If I went that route instead of ek. Just looking sir some input.

not really tech, but ill bite. i do not like the ep3, at all. the 97 sounds like a good deal, just based on what all comes with, but buying another man's project is usually a headache.

Default How do you all feel about AdvanceAuto parts VS OEM?

I'm about to do a complete replacement of my AC system for a 1995 Honda Civic HB VX. I'd like to buy quality parts, but I'm unsure who to buy from. I know AdvanceAuto will give a 1 year warranty on the compressor, and a lifetime warranty on some of the other components of the AC system. Honda however will not give any warranty. I also noticed the compressor is about $100 more from Honda than the AdvanceAuto one.

Should I just buy all my parts from AA or Honda? Price really isn't an issue. I only want quality parts.

Most of the time parts from Advanced will be fine. Worst case it's bad out of the box. Then you just take it back and defect it out.

Does this also account for performance? I wonder if the compressor has the same performance as the OEM parts. I could also be overthinking this.

I wouldn't think there would be any noticeable difference

I appreciate the advice!

I think I'll go where the warranty is. That seems like a better solution.
