B1 service, how much should it run?
Hi everyone. At 11,5XX miles, my car is due for a B1 service, according to the dashboard. Dealership said it would run me around $150. Has that been the case for you guys as well? I'm a little disappointed because, while the B1 service includes inspections to parts such as tie rods, topping off fluids, even the exhaust, etc etc, was some of this necessary for a car this new?? I can see that doing a major check up is good at any mileage, but if it's gonna run the consumer $150 every other service interval, then this kind of defeats why I wanted a Civic in the first place, which was ease of maintenance and ownership. How's it been for you guys? I'm over here scratching my head at the thoght of paying $150 or more (if more numbers are present on the maintenance minder) every 10k miles.
ps. 1 is for rotate tires btw. Not a big fan of that every 5k miles either. But i guess it wouldn't hurt, they'll just end up charging me more for something I can do at home basically.

I never even heard of that. In my opinion its a bunch of bs. They will probally spend 5 minutes lookin at your car and charge your the $150, and say they did a few things, but probally did nothing. My car will probally never go back to the dealer, unless i go to traded it in lol.

In a Junkyard near you.
it's just a regular oil change with the filter and a tire rotate. I would do it at home cheaper. Good job on actually using the maintnence minder though.

Yeah, that is all BS. Rotate tires around every 10,000 miles (if you want). That is all preference. As far as all the other checks. You check your own fluids, that is extremely easy to replace if needed. You do not need to check everything else if you have not heard any abnormal noises or other indicators coming on.

Just change your oil every 5000 miles and rotate your tires every 10k. Every 30k change all your major fluids and it will run forever. i work at honda and they won't even check any of the things listed.

I had a 2001 Civic DX. Put 130,000 miles on it and only changed the oil & filter every 5,000 to 6,000 miles and rotated the tires every 12,000.
The ONLY thing even had to replace was the tires (72,000) and Air cleaner (every 24,000).
It was the cheapest, most dependable car I ever owned in life, and I have been alive for almost 50 years.

Yeah, my 02 civic LX was good too, but I sold it at 44,000 miles for the new Si. Only changed oil, tires and air cleaner too.
