PC Card Adapter Assistance....

PC Card Adapter Assistance....
So i finally bought a pc card adapter capable of holding 6 different media cards including HC SD cards for my 08 EX-L with navi and I thought it was as easy as loading a bunch of music albums on the 8gb SDHC media card, popping it in the PC adapter and inserting into the civic. WRONG! keeps telling me card error! I just dont understand. Is there something really simple and ignorant that I am overlooking??!
Thanks honda peeps! all advice/comments are welcome as always!

Re: PC Card Adapter Assistance....
Is this card adapter for your car or home computer? Also, what exactly is telling you error? are the memory cards formatted properly or locked? SD cards have that little sliding tab that is usually overlooked.

Adapter is for both an older laptop and for all Honda, acura and Mercedes vehicles with the pc card slot. On my ex-l its located behind the navi. I've tried several card sizes and all were unlocked. Message says media error when inserted.....
I'm gonna try a smaller sized sd card next.

Re: PC Card Adapter Assistance....
FYI, my experience is that the pc card adapter must be a 16 bit card adapter, can not be a 32 bit or cardbus card adapter, and the max for SD card is 2gb formated to FAT32. This is the only way I can play mp3 from the SD card. the other method is that i have a CF PC card adapter also 16 bit, and i currently have a 8gb CF card and it works ok as well. i've tried 16gb and 32gb but it takes a little longer to read before it plays. main thing to keep in mind is the the pc card adapter must be 16bit. SD card max is 2gb, anything size bigger than 1gb is an SDHC and requires a 32bit/cardbus adapter to be read which will not work in the oem navigation.
hope this helps.

Re: PC Card Adapter Assistance....
That was from after researching on all the different forums and testing this out myself. Luckily my dslr camera uses both formats so I had these adapters/cards available for testing.

Re: PC Card Adapter Assistance....
So that means that I need a 2gb sd card since 4gb is sdhc! Well I'll try a 2gb and see if that works.
Thanks for the feedback fellas!!

After that you have to create folders with the mp3's in the card to bypass the limit and not just paste the songs directly to the root folder as it is limited to 90 files.
Press Window+R to open Run.
DISKPART ↵
DISKPART> list disk ↵
Disk ### Status Size Free Dyn Gpt
-------- ---------- ------- ------- --- ---
Disk 0 Online 40 GB 0 B
Disk 1 Online 7538 MB 0 B
#Your USB is Disk 1 (7538 MB) ,select it:
DISKPART> select disk 1 ↵
Disk 1 is now the selected disk.
DISKPART> list part
Partition ### Type Size Offset
------------- ---------------- ------- -------
Partition 1 Primary 500 MB 1024 KB
DISKPART> clean ↵
DiskPart succeeded in cleaning the disk.
# resize USB to 4000MB
DISKPART> create part primary size=4000
DiskPart succeeded in creating the specified partition.
DISKPART> active ↵
DiskPart marked the current partition as active.
Close window then Format again. You will see FAT option there.
