I have an ASM and it never fails that when I go to the grocery store, I have the pleasure of coming out to another cart that scratched my car. The ASM is good with dirt but when it comes to bugs, I can see all the little blood spots and smashed bugs stuck to the front and the side mirrors. Since I live in cali and its summer time, those damn fruit flys and skeet skeets (mosquito's) love my car. It looks like a battle field on the front of my car, there all twisted up, exploded and what not its kinda funny.

Then theres the chips, which always get the corner of my hood and chips it in all the right places for the most damage.

I don't know if your comment was directed at (because you replied to me), but I never air dry my car. Only clean microfiber towels.

Have you had any problems with scratches on your front or rear windshield? After using a regualr plastic snow scraper during the last storm we had up here in maine, i noticed several scratches on the front and rear windshield, along with a couple on the radius of the windshield wipers themselves

originally i wanted taffy white, but no
taffy white was available for months,
the black interior compliments the
taffy white exterior so well.

i ended up getting NHBP,hi maintenance,
but gives a bad *** shine after waxing!

Again, anyone have issues with scratches in the glass of their si? used a regular plastic scraper and now it looks like someone ran a razor blade a million times across my shiznit
or are there any products/resins to remove these scratches?
Fighting with the dealership to replace both front and rear glass, thats going to take an act of good to get done, however i called a glass expert and he came over inspected the damage and said there is NO WAY, i repeat, NO WAY that i could have caused the damage with an ice scraper.
He suggested that the dealership must have done it on delivery, or during snow removal while the car was on the lot, using a license plate or other makeshift device like that.
He gave me a statement in writing and left his contact info, so i could bring it to the dealer and honda us is telling me to call my insurance company aswell.. i am pissed, nothing with this car has gone right, or the quailty between the EP3 and this hog really dropped off.

We had a black GS-R and is was a lot of work to keep clean. I will not buy a black car again.

Meguiars Scratch X is great. I have used it twice and my finish is better then it was when I bought the car. The Scratch X removed several light scratches from a little bumper bump I had with another car, even removed some Polyester Resin finger prints from my rear bumper. After I used the Scratch X, I applied 2 coats wax and wax the car once every 3 months. My NHBP finish on my 2006 Coup looks like a mirror. Try it.

i was considering moving this to paint/body, but, considering how many of us suffer from these issues with these new hondas, i will leave it.

black, late model honda = PITA

honda paint is horrendous. there are a few reasons....

the first is the EPA. the EPA regs and the pressure they've put on the OE's has really cut into the paint resiliency and durability. the good **** that makes the paint durable is now essentially illegal.

the second issue is, honda is cutting corners like crazy. i've said it a million times, from the OE suppliers for almost every little bit on these cars to the razor sharp sheet metal in the engine bay, these cars are whittled down to the bare minimum to get what the general target idea for the design calls for at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. how this relates to paint is they have the amount of paint, which is shitty paint to start, dialed down to the last drop for the bare minimum that will offer complete coverage. this means the base, and this ESPECIALLY means the clear.

this is what i'd suggest for care. yes, there are a billion different products for each task and yes, everyone has their opinion.

here is my sequence. i don't have a black one, i have a blue one, which is a pain as well. what i do is relatively cheap and not particularly labor intensive-

rinse well with warm water, and wash with warm water. use the tennis ball colored microfiber mitts they have out now, and Eagle One nano wash and wax soap. rinse the mitt often. that nano wash stuff is freakin' awesome! it's got like a glittery sheen to it and it's blue- pretty easy to find. wash from top to bottom.

dry with a clean synthetic chamois, like the good ol' absorber

polish with Kit "Scratch Out". it's the yellow bottle stuff. it's cheap as crap and is available from most places, even wal-mart. it works in a similar manner to scratch-x, but at a fraction of the cost and you get more anyway. i'd apply this with a basic "red foam" applicator in straight lines, not circles! remove with microfiber towel, turning frequently.

quality liquid carnuba wax, applied however you like with a red foam pad. remove with clean MF towel.

that should do it. in-between waxes, wash frequently with that nano stuff and the clean mitt.

I never had many issues with scratches, but chips were a bitch... Then again, I used the FULL line of meguiars(sp?) soaps, clay, wax ect on the car at least once a month.
