Moving from California to Texas... What do I need?
Anybody know what I need to do for car registration when I move from CA to TX? And how do I handle moving my loan over? Theres a change of address on my BofA car payment form, however, I heard BofA is different in California than it is anywhere else...

You don't have to do anything. I moved from Diego to Austin and kept my Cali plate and reg until it expired and once it did just renewed it here in Texas. No big deal. Why would you have to change your loan? Can't you just do autopay or do it online? Don't trans your loan, Texas has higher interest rates.

word.......
dont switch loans with anyone else unless your getting a better interest rate. which might be hard over there.
keep your current loan company and pay through internet or mail from now on.
in the state of cali, i believe you have 2 weeks to register for a california plate and id. could be the same in texas but i doubt it.
just goto the local DMV and tell them you just moved...... and go through the bullshit process.

go to the DMV turn in your CA plates and register it in TX.
seeing that the car was already registered in CA and has a CA title, so you will have to get the car titled in TX.
TX requires a safety inspection and an emission test. so be ready for that any good MX shop should be able to do both at the same time.
dont forget about switching your insurance and possibly you license.

i still have a lien on my car. it is a BofA "California" lien. i am planning on getting TX license, TX title (well, registration) but i don't know how to deal with the lien. that's waht i'm really asking for. 30 days until i "need" the change, is state law. i'm also going to tint out the fronts, rears, and back... gotta stop the heat!

Re: (Demonis)
if tx gonna require emssion and all that bullshit check your gonna have to go to a referee to get pass test cuz other then honda no computer can reconise our 06 + cars.... even though they have obd2 its that plus ultra or something else basicly the computer doesnt have an updated thats gonna be avaiable in 6 yrs when cars require smog ... NOTE im not sure but either way its just time consuming not expensive

The first thing I'd get when moving out of calif to texas, is one of those AJP turbo kits
No worrying about CARB exemption ftw...

I just did the move, keep your CA plates/reg until they expire. Google TX DMV, the website has the whole "how-to" if you are moving in to the state. You supposedly only have 90 days to do it after moving, but I think you are fine to hold off until it expires. No big deal once you find the local offices for license and registration (seperate offices).
All I did was change the mailing address for my CA loan (not with B of A though), and change my insurance.
