That by itself is a good indication that the car has been getting romped on pretty good. Not that it should make that much difference imo. We've had 4 or 5 of em we've replaced 3rd gear sets on with no recurring problems.

Keep us updated.

Well when they replaced the synchro's I had the same issue w/ 3rd and 4th gear a month or two after the install. And I know for a fact I granny'd the car a few months after the install.

And I will be honest. I don't romp the car 24/7. I would say I get on it no more than the average person on this board.

That really sucks you are having such a problem. I had my third gear syncros replaced almost a year ago, and so far I think it has been okay. Has your problem been a repeat of the original (grinding often and popping out)? I was just wondering cause mine feels a little notchy, but it rarely grinds (and if it does it's usually due to my error I think).

I've never had issues with the gear popping out. I only grind 3rd or 4th gear...and that is upshifting from 2nd - 3rd and from 3rd - 4th. But that is due to the syncho's not meshing properly.

Started driving when I was 16...I'm 27 now. All four vehicles I have owned have been a stick.

1. 1990 Mitsu Mighty Max (5 speed)
2. 1997 Acura Integra (5 speed).
3. 1990 Nissan 300zx (5 speed).
4. 2006 Honda Civic SI (6 speed).

Well here's the final verdict.

The total cost to repair EVERYTHING is $2100 and some change. Corporate offered to pay 75% of it, which leaves me to pay 25% (around $525). I do not have the funds to pay this so they are going to put the tranny back together and put the new fluid in it. The claims rep said they would keep my claim on file and if I ever decide to get it fixed, they would honor the 75% discount.

So now, all I can hope is that a Service Bulliten will come out. If not, when I get the funds, I guess I will get it fixed. I hate it had to come to this, but I said/did everything I could do....but its me vs Honda.

I am sorry to hear about that man. I dropped my car off at honda a coupel days ago and they found that 1,2,3 gear syncros were damaged So they replaced all of them as well as gave me a new clutch, since i told them there was a loud bearing noise coming from the clutch.

And for the record, i didn't mess up the tranny two younger (16 and 17) kids owned the vehicle before me and gave it a beating. But i got it for a great deal so i couldn't pass up!

So i hope when i get the car back i don't have any other issues with it.
(sorry for thread jack)

This sux. Good luck with your tranny dude.

This is the kind of thread that really p1ss3s me off. You pay for the warranty, is not like is free 'cause those bums at Honda already calculated it into the msrp price. I was one of those people that bought the extended warranty (6yr-100K miles). And I'll be damned if they're going to make me go through this crap to get service they're supposed to honor.

On top of that, my previous car was an '03WRX, which I sold with a torn-up 3rd/4th gear due to crap syncros, dealer junk oil, and poor design. Ended up selling it for $8.5K as is. The car was NEVER launched, but it did have close to 98K miles after three years hehehe.
And now having to read about these 06-07 with similar problems.

(I should've just bought a yaris aka disposable car).
