Default OverHeating issue

Hello group,

It is almost 1 year that I'm having problem with my HONDA civic EX - 2005 (sedan). I'm not a guru in mechanical field so I took it to 4 different mechanics/technicians and nobody have been able to find the problem!!!

I need to mention that I have never taken it to dealer since once they ripped me off they charge 600 for each inspection every 3 months

I have no idea why they say HONDA last for ever!

This is the situation;

While I drive on freeway everthing is fine but as soon as I take an exit and get stuck in traffic (or even on freeway if I run into a traffic) the heat gage start going up and reaches the red spot but as soon as I start driving it goes back down.

What is the issue? any place that I can take it and have it fixed?

Thanks,
Amit

You'll want to flush the coolant system, and replace the thermostat. When flushing, pay close attention to the heater core, as they're known for getting clogged (so flush the coolant with the heater on full heat). Then, when you're re-filling the car up with coolant, make sure to burp the lines properly. (Place the car on level ground, or with the tail end downhill from the nose of the car. Then once the radiator is full to the brim, run the car with the radiator cap off. Watch the coolant level closely, with a rag on hand for spillage. Once the car is at normal operating temperatures, turn off the car, and top off the radiator. Don't fill the over-flow reservoir to the brim, though. Common mistake people make, is that they think that's how you fill a radiator. It isn't.)

PS. If none of that works, your radiator fan or coolant temperature sensor might be faulty.
