Multiplex MCU Issue - no mode 2
Hello Honda Tech -
I have a 2001 LX Hatchback with a check engine light and P0600 DTC.
At I had no other symptoms but this week the gauge cluster quit working. Of course, it started working again yesterday.
I worked through the MCU troubleshooting tree this morning.
I got it into mode 1 with no problem and no reported MCU DTCs.
I could not get it into mode 2 at all.
I assume the MCU is bad but before I cough $150 for a new fusebox/MCU I'd like to hear your opinions.
Thanks

Re: Multiplex MCU Issue - no mode 2
If you are following the diagnostic procedures properly from chapter 22 of the service manual using Honda service tool number 07WAZ-001010A, the I would take it that it is defective. Price for a new one is cheap, compared to Honda Canada Inc's gouging on these failure prone multiplex boxes, you are at 1/4 of the price for what they sell in Canada for.

Re: Multiplex MCU Issue - no mode 2
Thanks for the note.
I did not use the secret tool - I used a jumper wire. The jumper works fine. I can enter mode 1 with no issues but not mode 2.
Sounds like you're getting jammed for the MCU/fusebox. That's not cool.
