Default k20a3 not a question.... just want feedback

I just ordered a k20a3 for a little over 3k... complete including tranny, lsd, new axles, shift linkage so on.... i understand that the a3 is the 'bastard' child of the k family... but i like a challenge (not enough to keep modding the d17). I realize that there is still alot of potential for the a3, and i have every intention on trying to squeeze 300hp out of this thing... This is especially for you swapped guys do you think i made a pretty good decision or no? just looking for feedback good or bad, its over and done with now the k is on its way i just want to know what you all think

as far as a good deal, it's not. but it is better then what you have in your car right now and 300whp might be pushing it unless you go FI.

i've seen 200whp out of those with a2 cams, and a little bit of other things, so the potential is there.

keep us updated on your progress.

finally, a k20a3 swap into a EM2. even though you couldve gotten it cheaper, thank you for going the a3 route. for the price of a full a2 swap, you can boost your a3 and most def hit 300hp at the crank. and keep us updated!

for the record, an a2 is not 2k more then an a3. you could've found an a2 for a couple of hundred more then what you paid, just have to keep an eye out. personally, i would've gone the k24 route. but like you said, challenge.

there is a couple of a3 swaps out there, one even is supercharged.

Although everyone here knows my ( hateful) feelings toward the k20a3, i still envy you cause u have a Kswap and i have nothing.

I woulda went with a k24a1/3/4 as they are the same price, and have BOATLOADs more torque.

None the less, an a3 can be a good starting point.

As stated above some guys have seen damn near 200 whp, by swapping k20a2 cams/head stuff over. and sound easily hit 300hp with a bit of boost and a built bottem end.

*Edit* Heres the link of the k20a3 with 199whp.

Swapping a k20a3 isnt a logical idea just simply because youll end up dumping another 3 -4 grand after you swap just on bolt ons to get you to 300 ponies. I suggest that you hold off and get the k20a or a2 or k24 as others have suggested. Itll make your quest to 300 cheaper and easier and you can still do it NA and not have to go fi.

Heard alot of good stuff about hmotorsonline.com

They have some good looking b series motors too though. Im thinking of buying an old DA or Eg hatch and transplanting a motor one day. We'll see though.

Decent prices from them from what Ive seen.

A nearly complete K series for about 5600. axles, transmission, ECU, harness and what not.

^^ That's for the K20a. There's the a2 as well for around 4k for just about everything you need, minus mounts, of course. I can't find any a3's on that site though

They offer the K20A, which is what I would go with if I decide to.

I saw the A2 on there as a package deal, as well.

Edited.

They also have a k24 LB. Another good choice. And only 1000 bucks too.

hmotorsonline is VERY well known and is excellent in customer service, and have great engines. You pay for it a bit, but IMO its worth knowing ur engine will last.
