Default egr question

i have an 01 lx but i recently swapped the motor to the d17a2. i put a new ecu and u was getting a egr code, so i installed the egr housing with the egr and wired to the ecu but still getting the egr code. my friend said that the intake manifold gasket is different and has a hole or something for the egr flow.. does anyone know if this is true? i need the gasket but i dont know what year had the egr set up. if not does anyone know what year ecu i should get so i dont have to worry about the egr? i hate when im driving and it detects no egr flow so it cuts out my vtec.. anyhelp would be appreciated thank you.

OK, just to get this straight- You swapped for a VTEC engine with the VTEC ECM/PCM and took the EGR off? I assume because you're still using the LX harness, right? Is it popping the same code(s) after you wired it?

Make sure to check connections and if it's wired right.

I believe the intake gaskets are the same but, the catalog does list them as 17055-PLC-004 (LX) and 17055-PLD-004 (EX). $10 isn't a bad price at all if it fixes the problem.

Yea I swapped it to the ex motor with the lx harness like you said. The motor did not come with the egr set up but the ecu was throwing an egr flow code. So I went and bought the housing and egr valve installed it and wired it but still through the code. I was thinking the same thing as you about the gasket being the same. You're right they do have to different part numbers. I just don't want to buy a gasket if there is nothing different you know. I was hoping maybe someone new if they are different or not because the stealer ship doesn't know at all.

So your not confused. When I went out and bought my motor it did not come with an ecu. So I bought one and got it flashed. I don't know what year it came from since it is checking for egr flow. Do you know what year the ex came with egr?

All D17A2's have an EGR. That's weird that yours didn't come with one. What's the specific code?

The code description will probably be insufficient EGR flow.I'm not sure about difference in intake gaskets but maybe the ports are blocked. You can contact a dealer and confirm the differences in gaskets or just take it apart and see yourself.I just did the head on d17a2 and noticed how dirty the ports were(it didn't code but they were bad) .You will not loose anything by taking it apart instead of thinking of something big.
