d17 auto trans slipping
my moms 01 civic sedan lx threw code p0700 and p0730 for trans control module and incorrect gear ratio i was wondering if any techs or anyone in general knew what was actually faulting it throws the code then goes into limp 2nd and reverse only, i clear the codes it drives fine then pops up again but if i shut the car off and turn it back on codes still there but no limp mode and the trans doesnt feel any different, one tsb i read said sometimes theres a paper gasket that dissolves and causes slipping and the torque converter was another id like to narrow it down if i could i have the know how to rebuild or swap but i dont like to jump to that if theres an easy fix so if you have any ideas they would be greatly appreciated. i know honda makes crappy auto trans but id like to get it back runnin right by next week if i could

Re: d17 auto trans slipping
The "dissolving" is the tourqe converter clutch, which is in the tourqe converter itself, have to drop the trans if thats it. The incorrect ratio means that input and output speeds don't match what the controller says it should, in short, something is slipping. How many miles is on the car? You said it, I have come to know that the Honda automatics of this vintage are generally junk. I bought my sister's knowing it had tranny trouble, have rebuilt it and still haven't got it right. Thankfully I do the work myself, so I am only into it for purchase price plug about 300 dollars, not the 3000 it takes to have someone put a new one it.....
