Default Civic Sedan Jacking Point

Folks,

I have an 05 sedan and rotate my tires at every other oil change, approx. 6,000 miles. I like to keep the tires on the same side, so it's convenient to jack the car up from a single point (using my floor jack). I know where the proper jacking points are, front and back, but once my floor jack is positioned there, I can't lower the car onto jackstands.

So... I've been positioning the jack at a point on the body which lines up being approx. under the front door handle, allowing both tires to come off the ground at the same time.

This is my 4th Honda sedan (2 Accords, one Civic) and I've done this with all of them with no perceived ill effect.

Anyone have a better way (short of a lift, of course).

Thanks

Sounds good to me, as long as it's on the frame.

if the place where your putting hte jack wasnt strong enough to hold the car up you'd see it crushing. so if you dont see any signs of that id say ur good!

I use the front/side jack point just behind the wheel and I pump the jack up enough so both front and rear tires come off the ground. I don't use jackstands because I don't plan on going under the car for changing wheels.

If you're worried about not having a jackstand under there, there are some new tools that function both as the jack and the jackstand.
Example:

Understand not needing to get under the car to rotate tires, although I usually take the opportunity to stick my head under there and look around... albeit briefly.

Never tried to lift both front and rear tires from the front reinforced jack position... I'll give it a shot next time.

The jack-jackstand tool that you referenced is sweet... Never seen nor heard of one before... Wonder if it ever goes on sale...

Thanks to all.

i dont think you should jack up your car from that point (center point by door handle). it's not reinforced there, it might buckle eventually...

No, no definetly not. But the frame comes past the front tire a bit not quite to the door handle, and if jacked up from that spot can get both tires off the ground.

I still don't like it personally though.
