Default tire recomendation?

I have a 2001 Civic LX 2 door coupe, and i need tires. The number one most important thing to me is QUIET AND SMOOTH ! I really don't care about tread life or high performance because this car is simply transportation to me. So i wanted to get some thoughts on what's the smoothest and most quiet tire i can get in the $300-400 range.......preferably $300 if possible. What would you recomend, and how much more quiet and smooth would they be than the stock Firestones, which by the way, and correct me if i'm wrong, are very noisy and not perticularly smooth.

And while on the subject, how are those uniroyal puncture resistant tires? Had a pair on my old civic, but the place that sold them to me bent a rim causing the car to pull to the left, and thinking it was the tires i had them replace them after a week with michilins. (then of course realized it was not the tires) Anyway, for the short time i had them i seem to recall them being very quiet and smooth, tho that was 4 or 5 years ago so i'm not sure if memory serves well....

Thanks all..........

some Falken Ziex series tires will last a long time and give you a much noticable increase in traction

Yes, but as i said, thats not what i'm looking for. I want quiet and smooth. Nothing else matters. Of course i'm not saying i want tires that are HORRIBLE in other areas, but quiet and smooth are by far my main considerations.

so you don't want performance correct? so you don't want tires that will make your car STABLE when you're cruising down the highway at 90 mph? does that not matter to you, because if it doesn't just get normal tires, those 4 for $200 type deals.

If you notice, i said "Of course i'm not saying i want tires that are HORRIBLE in other areas, but quiet and smooth are by far my main considerations".
I'm simply trying to get replies that recomend quiet and smooth, not handling and long life.

Hey BlackDeuceCoupe...... in your review you said the Yokohama YK420 is actually a Avid T4. I found a place near me that has the Avid, but it doesn't say "T4". Can you look at this link and tell me if this is the tire? If it is i'll get a set. Thanks BDC.....

I have falken azenis sport ... Great grip .. quiet ... not so comfort .. CHEAP ! ... and they wear a little bit faster.
I would definately recommend them ..

now if you want comfort ...
look at each tire company mainstream line.

Michelin have their MXV4
Bridgestone have their new Turanza line
Yokohama have their Avid line
Dunlop SP sport A2 ... etc
