Brake Recommendations for replacement
Im looking to do a brake job on my 2002 lx sedan soon. So I was curious if you guys recommend anything specific for our rides? Should i go OEM? Or should i use aftermarket? I was thinking new pads and rotors up front. Then whatever is necessary for my rear drums. Thank you as always, and i would have searched if that would work.

Re: Brake Recommendations for replacement
When you say brembo blanks, do you mean their standard rotors that are not cross-drilled or slotted?
Also, does anyone have a place to recommend for good quality and prices? Thanks

Re: Brake Recommendations for replacement
The only thing is I keep reading about the brembo blanks rusting since they have no coating. They only coat their sports rotors. I dont want to put some rims on this summer just to see some rusted brembos.

If im using my brakes? LOL. Well for whats its worth should i just spend the money on some slotted ones? Their around $140 and i believe thats for the fronts right? Where the blanks are $40.

Thread thief. Just kidding. But my input is that on tirerack it says ceramic pads are recommended my vehicles manufacturer. So im not sure if that matters.

Damn, thats twice in my thread it has been jacked. Just kidding again. The brake upgrade would not effect your alignment in any way.

Re: Brake Recommendations for replacement
So more people are starting to say go with the brembo blanks. Does anyone have any pics of their rides with the brembo blanks on? Im just curious about that because of the ammount of people that have said theirs rusted in spots. Im about to put some rims on my ride this summer, so i want it to look clean. Thanks guys

Re: Brake Recommendations for replacement
Hawk makes a ceramic pad but my suggestion would be the "HPS" I've used these pads on multiple cars and they are absolutely great, great stopping power and they last for quite awhile if taken care of

Re: Brake Recommendations for replacement
This is why i love these forums. You guys give me quick answers, and quality ones as well. I apprecaite the fact that everyone is pointing me towards the cheaper, yet better product. Brembo blanks and Hawk Pads here i come. Thank you so much guys.
Also, does anyone recommend a good shoe for the rear drums? Sould i go to the local stealership or buy them from tirerack like i was going to with my brembo blanks and hawk pads. Thanks

Re: Brake Recommendations for replacement
Its been so long since I've used anything else I can't remember exactly what's its like with OEM or the likes but I would say average brake dust, and it seems they tend to get louder the older they get, but even then if you want better brake pads then more than likely your going to be cleaning your rims enough for it to not matter and the life span and quality of the pad is well worth and noise or other negatives that may be found.
And Willu as far as shoes for the rear, IMO, where ever you can get them cheaper get them there, as I'm sure you know your braking power is in the front and it won't do you any good to try to spruce up dem drums.

Re: Brake Recommendations for replacement
I dont know about brake dust, I think it creates just a little more, but I wash my car enough to remove them. I dont want any brake dust to be sitting on the rim for too long.
Also, I would just go with OEM shoes.
