Default blown accessories /radio fuse

So I blew that fuse just by turning on my foglights. just replaced my bulbs with a 100w rating. the bulbs that were in there before were at 55w. So after I pushed the switch the fuse blew. The fuse that blew was 7.5. I replaced it with a 10 and now the foglights work. But how much of a risk is it by putting a 10a fuse where a 7.5a should be?

try to replace it with the correct one ASAP. there should be spare fuses in your under hood compartment...

a higher fuse has as much chance of going out as a lower fuse.

so does it mean theres too much power if it keeps blowing out the 7.5 fuse but not the 10?

oh i know. i read that too. but im trying to figure out the risk of using a 10 fuse instead of a 7.5. i mean i know theres a huge risk of using probably a 20 in a 7.5.

Wattage is actually a measure of heat, however, in typical use including automotive, wattage is calculated by multiplying voltage by amperage. By increasing the wattage rating you have increased the amount of current in the system. This is likely blowing the fuse. The fuse rating is designed based on the needs of the system and the ability of the wiring and connections to handle the heat generated by the current and voltage. The difference between 10 and 7.5 is not much but can you really be sure the rest of the wiring can actually handle the heat? Don't want any fires...

This is definitly the truth, if you've never had an electricity class or any prior knowledge, you wouldn't believe everything that goes into and electrical system. It's not just a bunch of wires and a fuse just "for fun for". And not having the correct gauge wire, fuse, and improper wiring techniques can definitly start a fire...

Do you have anything else on the same circut? or is it just the fog lights?

so i found these nokyas. output says 80w. but usage says 55w? so would this be safe to use without catching anything on fire or ruining my fog housing?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWDVW

and these luminics

so does the output make any difference and/or what does it have to do with anything?

Output 80w, usage 55w? Wow. Sounds like you have found a bulb that defies the known laws of physics. I would probably buy stock in the company since it appears they have found a bulb that puts out more engergy than you put into it.
