hey guys i just have a quick question, i just bought a 2002 civic ex/si and the battery light is on and it wont start unless it's boosted now i changed the battery adn put in a new one but the same problem as before it's not getting charged up, i am assuming that the alternator is bad or gone ..is there anyways i can test or check to make sure it's the alt and not some wireing problem or something ? thanks

you can take the alternator out and take it to a parts store, they have a tester there.
or you can use a volt meter and test it. i believe you test at the point where there is a rubber piece covering the connection. damn that sounds stupid, let me know if you dont understand what i am saying. it should be 12volts or close.

there is also another way they used to do it. i heard it can wipe out your ecu and some electronics or something serious on newer cars, so not my fault if you try it. what you do is start the car, then disconnect the battery cables. if your car is running still, your alternator should be fine. if it stops then your alternator is bad. I repeat you may damage your vehicle and i dont want to be liable for it, so i suggest the first scenario where you take it to parts shop. hope this helps.
