2001 Honda Civic DX P0420 P0131 P0132
Hello
I am helping my nephew and brother in law with his 2001 Civic DX... 161K
Hard to say when this started and the sequence of repairs.. but here goes
History:
2 years ago they replaced the cat and both 02 sensors
Recently they get a CEL with codes P0420, P0131 & P0132 and said the idling was going up and down, so they changed the IAC module and the car idles smooth now.
They brought it over to my garage and all I saw was Code P0132 O2 #1 high voltage / I clear the codes, took it for a ride, ran smooth and no CEL, I monitored the 02 live voltage thru the scan tool and it was sitting steady at the steady max voltage but didn't exceed it and sent him home. / They drove it for 2 days and it kicks up code P0420 and P0131. Sounds like it thinks the cat is not working properly. I know he never changed the PCV valve and I also noticed the Air filter was a little dirty and the air filter casing was broken where one of the bolts that hold the top air filter cover was broken off. I was thinking that maybe some unmetered air was getting into the throttle body but I am not sure. Any suggestions are appreciated.
We are using Bosch aftermarket 02 sensors
