Default 04 civic - crank, no start

Ok so my friends grandfather has an 04 civic that cranks but won't start. It seems like it tries to fire off as soon as you stop cranking on it but still doesn't fully start. I know quite a bit about 88-00 but this car is a little newer then what I'm used to working on. I haven't had the chance to check it out just yet and I'm just wondering where I should start. Thanks -Matt

Any indication on the instrument cluster that your immobilizer is functioning properly, or if there are any trouble codes present?

Not that I know of. If you turn the key on the check engine light will stay on for about 20 seconds then blink 6 times and go off I believe that's normal but not sure. I've checked alt fuse, fuel pump fuse and I can hear it kick on and off, security fuse, ignition fuse and ecu fuse and all are good.
