Default 01 civic tranny

Im prety sure my transmission is getting bad. Its an automatic and it acts funny. When its cold my rpm guage goes up some when it shifts through the gears, seems to mostly stop when it warms up. Also once in a while when it downshifts into 2 or 3 it seems to maybe shift early. I can feel engine breaking. Fluid is not the bright red color i see in the bottle, is slightly red but very dark red. Not alot of red really. Also today when i checked the fluid with engine running and warm it was at a normal level but i could hear a swishing sound from under the hood, not sure if that is tranny related. Car has 185000 km on it now.

Do a tranny flush. See if that helps out. Also, are you switching through the gears yourself, or are you letting the transmission do it's own thing?

its shifting on its own, ive heard that if the transmission is getting bad that u shouldnt change the fluid or flush as the old dirty fluid can hold things together so im scared. I don't want to make it worse.

I understand what you're saying about the flush. I've done flushes on cars that were shifting okay and once we swapped out the fluid it went for the worse, but if that's the case the tranny is going to go soon regardless.

2001 honda civic are famous for transmission failure happens to me when it starts shifting funny I knew that it is time so I bought a new one from the dealer and since than it runs like a champ I did the trans install almost three years now. No flush or trans fluid will cure the problem. Hope this helps.
