When 13" just isn't enough.............
I have some pretty good sized brakes for an Integra. I have an engineer friend who needed a car to do some testing with a prototype caliper. I 'll let the pictures do the rest...........
comments,opinions, and feedback welcome...........
old set up:
Baer 2 piston PBR calipers and 13" 2 piece rotors
uses 84-96 Corvette / or 94-03 Mustang Cobra brakes pads (easy to find)
fits under 17" wheels
when they were brand new
with the current street wheels and some miles on them.....
New set up:
6 piston Forged monoblock calipers
on the same rotors
uses Corvette C5 brake pads
the new prototype caliper set up I am testing compared to current
how they look on the car
comments,opinions, and feedback welcome...........

but he already had it, then got something bigger..
that much stopping power is useless without proper tires to help stop the car aswell. other wise they are just going to keep locking up.
neo gens on the first set up.
azenis on the second set up.
of course the azenis are better, but the would make the biggest difference in stopping 60-0 mph

i know he's a track day regular, but i dont know if he had a problem with overheating the baer setup. as far as locking up goes, i think he still has ABS. let us know kinetic.
as for questioning the use of these brakes, i think its awesome that someone is using big *** brakes on their integra.
no one ever questions turbo kits and roll cages and whatever else on hard parker's cars, so whats wrong with putting bigger brakes on a car that actually gets roadraced regularly?

the neo gens are my street tire set up for long tire life
I run 205-40-17 Nitto NT-01 R compounds at the track ( soon to be 235-40-17 )

The 2 piston Baer set has worked out great, no issues there. The opportunity came up to test these for a friend and I jumped on it.
Thoughts so far.....
longer pedal travel......which leads to easier brake pedal modulation, more control during threshold braking ( I have had ABS kick in when I hit a corner too hot on entry, my fault for stomping the pedal too hard).

Because it allows me to pass all the higher horsepower cars under braking.....usually after that they can't keep up because they spent too much $$$ on power and not enough on suspsension/brakes and seat time
Plus Iam close to re installing my supercharger set up
more HP=Higher MPH on the straights=More brake needed
SpecR-
you will be pleased to know that my boss is testing a set on his EVO with a 14" rotor upgrade........

For better brakes!
For the ones that actually ask why
Seriously, If I would have to choose to actually go faster or stop faster, I would definately stop faster.
You can't put a price on your safety, on or off the track

I can't emphisize enough the importance of out braking your opponents at the track. I catch most of my opposition in the braking zones. Does your friend plan on marketing any of these item's or what was the purpose of these pieces originally?

These calipers will eventually be sold to the public, I imagine. They were designed with smaller cars in mind. I am driving the car for the next 2 days (drivability), then the car goes back for more testing. I will track test them @ the next NASA HPDE here in Phx. in 3 weeks. My friend will also drive and do some testing that weekend. After that, I am guessing that the MFG will decide on final specs and then it all goes from there.
