Yeah... because the Honda scene is a pillar of originality....
Hey, I got an original idea for a car. Lets get a eg hatch with a stock engine (D-POWER BOIIIIIII), some ebay springs and slap a duckbill spoiler and knock-off Spoon lip on it. Then lets slap a rusty hood on it because that's all the rage now.

i think some people in this thread have rat rod confused with hood ride tho...
to me, rat rod = satin black and pinstripe with white walls etc...
hood ride = rust/overall ghettofab but coolness

Ah, I must've read something incorrectly along the way. You're right, the VW crowd does encourage originality and I envy them for it.
