this trend is horrible the vw's started it years ago and should have ended it, its just an excuse for being broke and driving a slammed shitty car. of course there are the exceptions like the trend setters who have an extra hood or fender to mess with.
i was on the hoodride forums when they first started and i regret tryin to excuse not having any money to make my bug look nice and just rep hoodride...

im glad its dead now and hondas should not follow its footsteps

hey dudes. i know a lot of you dont like this. and i dont either. i think it looks terrible HOWEVER, it just makes a 2,000 paint job look that much nicer.

so let them be. let everyone rust the hell out of their car and let you be the last person with decent paint. its just like making fun of homosexuals. just let them be gay, because for every homo out there, its just another available female.

my question is, rust-rod guys, who is goign to be the one who grows some ***** and rusts something other than the hood? come on man, you can replace the hood for 80 bucks and 4 10mm nuts.

if you like rust, lets see some rust.

I really don't see a trend going on here, just one here and there, I'm sure deep inside they all know it looks terrible.

Personally, I like/appreciate the Rat Rod scene but in my opinion it doesn't have the same charm on Hondas, VWs or anything newer than a 1960's car. Why?

Because if I'm not mistaken, the whole thing about Rat Rods is having your car looking 'period correct', meaning having parts that were manufactured on the 'Golden Era of hot-rodding'. So naturally, the headers and whatnot are not on the brandnew look kinda thing anymore, and so do the body panels. I think a primered body is still a better choice, but in some mysterious way, rust works on these hot-rods. It's not just being ghetto. It's about having a car modified the way they were back in the 40's to 60's.

I think that Hondas will work better on period correct ,unpolished and unrestored parts (Old school Cassete players, equalizers, DIY engine tweaks, Weber/Mikuni Carbs WTF?? lol) rather than pinstriping, whitewall tires AND MOST IMPORTANTLY RUST. It's quite similar to this JDM phenomenom we are stiiiilllll having, but maybe with a bit more character and less TLC. Those 90's 15" Enkeis for your EG are equivalent to those 60's era manufactured Cragar mags for the 32 Ford guys.

Please, don't let these magnificent Hondas rust away just so to sport a 'rat-rod' theme. But hey, if you love a rusty look that much, it isn't my car anyways. Just my 2 cents

There is time put into the chassis, suspension, motor, and a lot of time body panels....The hondas on the other hand, are mostly stock, with maybe a set or steelies, and damaged body panels and rust...No effort, and no style.
Truth. I could see all the clueless ricers following this trend.
I predict the roof rack first, followed by a rusted *** hood.
