You might get them eventually. If you see a bunch of small holes (about dime sized) around trees or bushes, then be careful...because they are probably cicada holes!

is that true? Never heard of them either. and if you see the holes near trees/bushes can't you just fill em or something and prevent them from coming out?

are you that stupid ? You think if you covered their holes, they couldn't just dig out again? They ******* dig up from well below the surface, whats another 2 or 3 inches of dirt going to do?

No way in hell you could ever fill that many holes...there's no less than 1000 PER BACKYARD!

ewww disgusting.

I saw it every summer when I lived in Korea. but they were bigger and never be seen that many at once. You most likely see few dead ones fallen off the tree.

I don't understand why people say they appear every 17 years. I believe they live underground for 17 years and come out to mate and die. They come out every year as 17 year olds.

Why are there so many of them this year? I don't know. Didn't see any news about it.

Oh, just so you guys know, throwing stuff does nothing. These ******* things probably wouldn't care if the world imploded...they would still sit on those damn leaves. Me and BauleyCivic tried throwing rocks at the plants to get them to all fly off, but NOT ONE of them moved. They all sat there. Bastard bugs!!

ummm. . . anybody here from northern NC/southern VA? I'm going to be camping at VIR this weekend for a race, and I'm sleeping in my car if those things are out there.

Cicadas have no purpose but to mate and die. They are totally harmless. What really sucks is Ohio has the largest population of the ugly little bastards.
