Default Belt Squeal. Any Ideas?

The car is a 2006 Honda Accord V6 6speed. Recently I had to replace the motor and replaced it with the same engine from a local junk yard. The crank pulley (harmonic balancer) had a bit of rust but looked okay. So did the tensioner pulleys so they were all reused, but a new OEM Honda belt was installed. After driving it for about 30 miles it developed a horrible squeal that was especially loud between 2-3k rpms. Thinking this was the idler pulley or tensioner pulley I swapped over the whole tensioner assembly from my old motor since I'd never had this sound before. The noise went away at first making me think it was the pulleys. After about 2 days and 50-60 miles the noise came back although not nearly as loud this time and really only doing it at idle, but it constantly did it at idle. I tried a whole new tensioner assembly with both pulleys and the noise was still there. So I swapped the belt one more time. This time I used a Dayco from Advance and to my surprise the noise went away once again. This time it stayed away for 4 days and about 400 miles, however now it's back again. It started doing it yesterday morning around 2-3k rpms again, but now it's making noise at idle and at 2-3k rpms. It seems like it goes away or close to it after driving for about 20 minutes or so.

So I'm lost on why changing parts makes it go away for a couple of days and then the noise returns. It's obviously not the tensioner/idler pulleys or the belt at this point. I'd think it was a misalignment issue it wouldn't go away. Do you all think having some rust on the crankshaft pulley could be getting on the belt causing this noise? It's not all that rusty at this point, but you can still see some on it. Every other pulley (ps, alternator, and A/C compressor) would be the same as with the prior motor when it never made noise although I'm not saying they can't have gone bad. Any idea on where I need to go from here?

You could pull the belt off, and try to use a wire wheel to get all the rust you see on the crank pulley. Cleaning it up very well could take care of your issue. You'll need one you can put on a drill or dremmel of course.

I had the same issues with my truck. I would replace the idler pulley, and the noise would go away for a few days, and come right back. I replaced the tensioner, and the same thing happened. I finally replaced the two month old Dayco belt with a Gates belt, and the noise hasn't come back yet (6 months). I'm not saying a good belt will stop your noise too, but I sure wasted a few bucks changing pulleys because of the crappy Dayco belt.
