check out this knocking sound
I took my 96 accord v6 out the shop after replacing my timing belt, ac belt, water pump, oil pump seal ect. Well, when i was driving on the way home, i heard a little knocking noise... as if a midget was under my hood knocking a metal against my engine. I didnt think it was a big deal until i got onto the freeway.
I was driving for about 10 miles until all of a sudden, the knocking got annoyingly LOUD. So i signaled to get onto an exit when all of a sudden smoke just started blowing out under my hood!! When i tried to gas it, it barely wanted to go and the knocking was OUT OF THIS WORLD LOUD!!! So i made it into a gas station and my car just died for no apparent reason. I popped opened my hood and my radiator fan was on blowing the hell outta my engine (my fans never worked before). MY engine was smoking like crazy!! There was also coolant leaking from my radiator..wtf ?? So i had no choice but to call a tow truck and towed it home. Well, this is what my engine sounds like:

if anyone knowz a link to a DIY to fix this problem, please let me know. IF not, how much would u think it would cost to get a mechanic to fix this problem. HELP

Sounds like a lower end knock. Did you check your oil level ? Maybe the mechanic forgot to fill your oil back up after replacing the pump seal. Check the oil level.
If the oil level is fine... this guy might have been a rookie or wasn't paying enough attention to the job. That knock you are hearing usually develops after having seriously low oil pressure (ie. not enough volume or lack of oil) causing damage to bearings on the crank and rods. More than likely, it's irreversible in your case.
I'm sorry this happened to you. It's really unfortunate. However, you do have the upper hand. Any reputable shop is held responsible and you may get a new engine out of this whole ordeal, or at the very least... a rebuild. Although, I wouldn't let them rebuild it if that was the case.
Good luck man.
