What is my radio telling me?

What is my radio telling me?
I've been searching through these forums and I'm afraid I'm stumped. I had to pull my battery a few days ago and then hook it up again. As usual, the radio locked out. I've got the code card and I've never had trouble getting it up and running again in the past.
However, this time, no matter how many times I enter the code, the radio won't come back on.
The red anti-theft light continues to flash and went I power up, I get the CODE on the display.
This is a 96 Accord EX with the stock radio and CD player. Now, the first time I tried entering the code this time, I remembered it incorrectly. I'm wondering if there's some kind of "three strikes and your out" business that is keeping me from putting the code in now.
The wife is not amused that her radio ain't working, so if I could get some pointers on what could be going on, I'd appreciate it.

The radio will lock up if you punch in the wrong code, or too many codes. Don't know for how long. It might say in the owner's manual.

your correct about the three strikes and your out part. usually when this happens the radio will say error instead of code. Disconnect the battery, wait a few minutes and then connect it, try the code again it should work, if it doesnt there is something wrong with the radio

I believe if you enter the incorrect code 3 times in a row then it will lock up for an hour or so. You have to have the radio on for that hour before you can try again.
I'm not positive it is an hour, but something like that.

i want to thank everyone for their responses. I had tried pulling the battery cable, but I must not have let it sit long enough. I tried again, leaving the battery unplugged for a good 30 minutes. After I hooked it up again, the radio code took.
It was a bit frustrating as the radio before would just sit there and continue to say CODE like it was ready for the number.
Now, the wife's radio is working again, so all is happy on the homefront.
Thanks again and I'll try to keep checking in and start contributing around here.
