Default transmission slipping and fluid fill

I have a 1999 honda accord ex. It has 225,000 miles on it. The transmission is slipping when it shifts from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. If you take it easy and don't accelerate hard it won't slip. What is the proper way to check the transmisson fluid and is the dip stick for it located below the battery ? Do you also add fluid in the dipstick hole? Stupid questions most likely but I don't want to screw anything else up. Thanks

you check the fluid when the car is at operating temp, and it is idleing in park.

The dis stick is located on the front of the trans, right infront of the radiator. The stick has a yellow handel on it. the fluid should be within the cross hatched area

Just did that and the fluid level is at the top of the mark. This is my daughters car and I don't drive it much. I had never noticed the slipping until Friday when I drove it after replacing the radiator cap. It had overheated Thursday, I replaced the thremostat and that didn't fix it so I replaced the radiator cap . I took it out for about a 15 mile ride at 70mph and the temp. gauge stayed right where it should but when I was almost home I turned a corner and got on it and then it started slipping. I stopped the car and took off again and it slipped. Then I tried it again but not getting on the accelerator as much and it didn't slip. It didn't slip just a bit ago when I took it out to warm it up. What now ? Thanks again.
