Timing belt broke...
Alright guys...I'm not familiar with the accord, obviously I don't own one...But I'm posting this for my friend...From what I understand...Her timing belt broke...bent 1 valve in cylinder 2...So new valves and timing belt...and it wont get fire in the 2nd cylinder....I'm sure I left out a few things but I heard it all really fast...but to sum it up timing belt broke, bent 1 valve, replaces valve, new belt, no fire in cylinder of previously bent valve...Any ideas why....Thanks

You're going to have to check for three things in the defunkt cylinder:
1) Compression
2) Fuel
3) Ignition
These are the "Magic Three" that need to be satisfied.
A vacume leak at / near the intake manifold can cause a dead cylinder if it's large enough, so I would also recheck everything you disturbed during the valve fix.

That's it bro, either you have these things or not. With them it should run, without........

Re: Timing belt broke... (Vt4cPwn35)
Ok, what happened was this... She was driving down the road, engine cut off(timign belt broke)... Had timing belt replaced... Had head checked(by a friend of hers) and everything was good. She put it back together, it ran, but basically sounded like ****... Have you ever heard an engine running that someone cranked the cam retaining bolts down too much, it makes a whining noise... Thats what it sounds like... Torque is to spec though. She has had a problem with the car just cutting off for a while. Came to the conclusion that it was the distributor, so she went ahead and changed it. Anyway... Car ran, but like ****. #2 injector was fouled beyond belief, had them cleaned, and reinstalled, now car runs but diesels. If you pull #2 wire off, the car will immediately die, but is not the case with 1,3, and 4. New wires, cap, rotor, dist. I am not sure. I haven't personally looked at the head, but is there anything that could have been damamged, such as a keeper, or spring that would cause this? I am not sure if the head was actually removed though. I don't believe it has, but she said that it has. A friend did it for her, not me, so I can't verify it. She has had it looked at by 4 people, and they can't figure it out. All ASE certified mechanics. She is having to drive a Ford Escort until it's fixed!! She needs the Accord back...

Are F22A1's interference engines? I have heard that they aren't, however I always believed that they were. And if not, then could a valve still have been bent. If so, then maybe the people looking at it, just assume that it isn't and assume that the valves are ok, and haven't checked. Oh yeah... She also has had a leak down, and compression check done. Everything is ok.

In that case, she's going to have to go back and have ALL cylinders checked for the "BIG THREE"
What you're now telling me is the #2 cylinder (the original bad cylinder) is now contributing more to the engine running than the remaining three cylinders; which infers that the three (3) have issues yet unresolved.
I would suggest that you get the original hack (technician) involved in this process, and convince him to retrace everything he did (and didn't do). Working on a Honda doesn't require a degree in rocket science, but you have to know basic mechanical dogma.
An interference engine like the F22 and later varients will not bend just one valve when a timing belt breaks at speed.
I know, and repect, that you want to do right by your significantly other girlfriend by tackling this, I would do no less. But trying to diagnose something like this thru a discussion group is like diagnosing cancer with a flashlight.
I suspect a compression test will show losses in cylinders other than 2

So... Valve lash & compression test on all the other cylinders? Camshaft timing checked? Maybe the valve guide was also damaged but wasn't replaced? Maybe other valve(s) have slight damage but they weren't replaced?

Re: Timing belt broke... (95d15red)
actually the car still runs like ****... its not the distributor..
i think that its a n intake vlave bent on #2 cylinder. It keeps lean in that cylinder... I think that the intake valve isn't allowing the right air/fuel mixture to get in... she won't let me look at the car, adn pull it apart... damn it! if she did, it would be bakc on the road already...
